My aesthetic has always been for classic styles. I just loved the dresses and other outfits I would see in my mom’s pictures. Those outfit were also well made and lasted a long time. know how fast kids grow out of their clothes though so I wanted to make them rugged but stylish, with some feature that would make them last longer than average. Whether that be an adjustable feature or the ability to reverse and change the look.

Both my mom and grandmother were seamstresses, with my mom being a home economics teacher. Neither however taught me how to sew. My first make as a teenager was dismal so I didn’t make anything again for about ten years. But with a busy life I couldn’t find the time.

Now I have rediscovered my love for creating clothes and decided to concentrate on kids clothing because I thought they would take less time and use less materials. That being said I also make clothes for adults too.

I chose the name because it seemed to fit with what I like, but also because my son would refer to quirky things that I would say or do in everyday life, as ‘classic Ruth’.

I’m Ruth, I am from Belize, but have lived in the US for over 30 years. I am a creative person, and have been passionate about creating in different mediums at different stages of my life. I’ve now circled back to my first creative passion. I am doing this as sustainable as I can, using vintage fabrics from estate sales, etc. As such the quanties are limited, which I believe add to their charm. They are 100% handmade, and 100% charming.
